UH study shows researchers can predict El Niño 15 months in advance

Researchers from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa published a study showing that they can skillfully predict El Niño and La Niña 15 months ahead of time using only observations of the ocean surface temperature and height—no complex climate model needed.

UH study offers new insight on monitoring reef health

A study co-led by a University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa doctoral student revealed that each type of coral and algae from a coral reef produced a unique suite of chemical compounds.
