USDA Announces Feeding Program Partnership in Response to COVID-19

US Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced a collaboration with the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty, McLane Global, PepsiCo, and others to deliver nearly 1,000,000 meals to students in a limited number of rural schools closed due to COVID-19:

White House Press Briefing: Updates on Increased Testing, Telehealth

President Donald Trump began by noting that last night, the FDA announced new policies to further increase testing for COVID-19.  All states can now authorize tests developed and used within their borders in addition to the FDA.  

Rep. DeCoite: Open Letter to Visitors, Tourist and Tour Operators In Rural Maui

HHSAA Directive Places Moratorium on Practices Effective Immediately

First Female Hawaiian Falsetto Contest Postponed

The Carmen Hulu Lindsey Leo Ha’iha’i Falsetto Contest is being postponed until a later date due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The inaugural contest was set to take place at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua’s opening night at Celebration of the Arts Friday, April 10, 2020.

Maui Health Expanding Assessment Procedures and Visitation Policies at All Three Hospitals

Maui Memorial Medical Center: A “rapid assessment” area has been set up at the Emergency Department (ED) entrance as an extension of the current triage tent area and to help with patient flow.  Hospital visitation is now limited to one (1) visitor per patient and no children under the age of 14.

Hawai‘i Coronavirus Total 10: New Cases Include 2 O‘ahu Residents, 1 Maui Visitor

As of March 16, 2020, as of 3:30 p.m., there are a total of 10 confirmed or presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 in Hawai‘i. Three new positive results were announced today for two O‘ahu residents, and one visitor on Maui. The Department of Health (DOH) is monitoring all of these individuals and supervising their isolation as well as the self-quarantine of their family members.
