Sept. 28, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 240 New Cases in Hawai‘i

There were 240 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Tuesday. The latest data represents a total of 5,631 “active” cases over two weeks.

Sept. 27, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 255 New Cases in Hawai‘i

Of today’s 255 cases, there were 238 cases identified as confirmed, and 17 probable cases were added to the count.  The confirmed cases included: 151 on O‘ahu (+11 probable); 29 on Hawai‘i Island (+3 probable); 17 on Maui; 33 on Kaua‘i; one on Moloka‘i (+3 probable); and seven in Hawai‘i residents diagnosed while out of state.

Sept. 26, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 372 New Cases in Hawai‘i, 10 Deaths

There were 372 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Sunday, including 40 on Maui and one on Moloka‘i.

Lieutenant Governor Josh Green, who also works as an emergency room physician issued a warning letter to America’s governors today, urging them to take action now to prevent further COVID spread and prevent further hospitalizations and death.

Maui Health to Begin Pfizer Booster Shots for Eligible Seniors Starting Monday, Sept. 27

Maui Health will begin providing booster shots of the Pfizer vaccine to eligible individuals beginning Monday, Sept. 27.  This is in addition to current vaccine administration of providing first, second and third doses to eligible residents.

Sept. 24, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 403 New Cases in Hawai‘i, 9 Deaths

There were nine new deaths reported today–including three on Hawai‘i Island, and six on O‘ahu. Among the deaths are two people in the 20-29 year old age range.

DOH Authorizes Pfizer Booster Doses, Prioritizes First Shots & Kupuna

The Hawai‘i Department of Health has authorized Pfizer booster doses, with prioritization to those who have not yet received a first and second dose over any booster. The department is also recommending priority to kupuna ages 65 years and older, and those between 50 and 64 who have underlying medical conditions.

State Health Department Awaiting CDC Recommendations on Pfizer Booster Shots

The CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted on Thursday to recommend booster shots for people 65 and older and others with underlying medical conditions, but it has not said yet whether it will follow the advisory committee’s recommendations.

Attendance Swells at “Mandate-Free Maui” March and Rally

A Mandate-Free Maui March and Rally drew thousands of participants that stretched in a walking line from War Memorial Stadium to the Kaʻahumanu Avenue intersection with Kahului Beach Road. Bystanders estimated the crowd at more than 1,000, while organizers said the event drew an estimated 3,000 individuals over the course of two hours, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
