Kahului Armed Robbery Among 14 Vehicle Thefts – Dec. 25 to 31, 2011
The list includes an armed firearm robbery of a vehicle in Kahului the day after Christmas. The incident was reported at 9:40 p.m. on Kuhuoi Street and involved the theft of a 2004 Silver Toyota Tacoma. The vehicle has since been recovered.

There were five incidents in Kahului; three in Kihei; two in Maalaea; and one incident each in Lahaina, Napili, Paia, Waikapu and Wailuku. Types of vehicles involved in the various island incidents included: 2 Toyota Tacomas, 2 Toyota Carollas, 2 Ford F-250s, and a variety of other vehicles.

Maui police responded to 9 residential burglaries over a seven day period, between December 11 and 17, 2011. The incidents included two cases each in Kihei and Kula; and single cases in Hana, Kahului, Lahaina, Makawao, and Maunaloa.

Maui Council Member’s Vehicle Stolen from Maui Beach Hotel
Maui County Council Member Joe Pontanilla is the latest victim of a vehicle theft on Maui. Pontanilla’s Toyota 4-Runner was stolen from the parking lot of the Maui Beach Hotel on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at around 8:40 p.m.

Maui police responded to 18 residential burglaries over a seven day period, between December 4 and 10, 2011. The incidents included three cases in Wailuku; and two cases each in Kahului, Makawao, Pukalani, Kula and Waiehu.
