Types of vehicles involved in the various island incidents included: 3 Jeeps, 1 Honda Accord, 1 Honda Civic, 1 Dodge Charger, 1 Chevy Cobalt, and 1 Chrysler Town & County.

Maui police responded to 9 residential burglaries over a seven day period, between December 11 and 17, 2011. The incidents included two cases each in Kihei and Kula; and single cases in Hana, Kahului, Lahaina, Makawao, and Maunaloa.

There were three incidents Kahului, two in Wailuku, and individual incidents in Kihei, Lahaina, and Makawao. Three of the stolen vehicles have since been recovered.

Maui County Council Member Joe Pontanilla is the latest victim of a vehicle theft on Maui. Pontanilla’s Toyota 4-Runner was stolen from the parking lot of the Maui Beach Hotel on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at around 8:40 p.m.

Four of the incidents were in Kihei. The rest of the car thefts were spread throughout the island with individual incidents reported in Kahului, Makawao, Pukalani, and Wailuku. Two of the vehicles stolen have since been recovered.

Three of the incidents were in Kihei, and two were in Lahaina. There was also reports of stolen vehicles in Kahului, Maalaea and Napili.Three of the vehicles stolen have since been recovered.

The Wailuku incidents were both reported at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, at the Hawaii Nature Center in Iao Valley.
