Hale Makua Health Services has received confirmation that an employee has tested positive for COVID-19 at the Kahului facility. The staff person last worked on Tuesday, Nov. 17, and is currently in isolation at home.

The County of Maui has been notified that a test result has returned positive for a resident of Hāna. The person is asymptomatic and in self-isolation and has no recent travel history. The Department of Health is investigating and conducting contact tracing.

Governor Ige today announced that beginning in mid-December, travelers flying from Canada to Hawaiʻi may bypass the state’s mandatory 14-day quarantine if they take a COVID-19 test from labs identified by Air Canada and WestJet.

Governor David Ige announced today that starting on Nov. 24, travelers wishing to bypass the 14-day mandatory quarantine must have their COVID-19 test results – from a trusted testing partner – prior to departure for the State of Hawaiʻi.

There were 107 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today, including 75 on O‘ahu, 12 on Hawai‘i Island, nine on Maui, four on Kaua‘i and seven in Hawai‘i residents diagnosed outside of the state. Maui cases were reported in Wailuku, Kīhei and Hāna according to the latest mapping updates provided by the state Department of Health. The East Maui town of Hāna was added back to the active map today.

Nā Hale O Maui today announced the completion of its Kahoma permanently affordable workforce housing project in Lahaina. Nā Hale O Maui is able to sell homes at below-market prices by keeping the land in trust, subject to a 99-year lease with the homeowner. The 12 three- and four-bedroom homes at Kahoma, which appraised between $745,000 to $800,000, were purchased between $390,000 to $460,000, with 3% down.

The Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority is accepting COVID-19 Health and Safety Plans from hotel operators in Hawaiʻi as required by Governor David Ige’s 15th Proclamation Related to the COVID-19 Emergency, which he signed on Monday.

A mobile hygiene unit used by unsheltered homeless in South Maui was broken into yesterday, with many items stolen, rendering the unit inoperable, according to the Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Centers. The organization estimates that damages and loss at $10,000 and possibly more.

A 41-year-old California man suffered multiple injuries to his body after falling approximately 20 feet from a waterfall onto rocks below in the area known as “Bamboo Forest” in the East Maui town of Kailua.

Gov. David Ige issued a 15th COVID-19 emergency proclamation that extends and clarifies the statewide mask mandate as agreed to by all four counties and the state.

Vouchers were sent to some 6,000 individuals and families impacted by COVID-19 on Maui as part of a Thaksgiving giveaway from the County of Maui.
