Completed voter registration forms must be turned in to the appropriate City or County Clerk office by 4:30 p.m. or postmarked by July 12, 2012 if mailed.

In the state house, Maui incumbents Gil Keith-Agaran, Angus McKelvey and Mele Carroll were supported, as well as newcomers Kaneila Ing and Ekolu Kalama.

Voters are encouraged to review the information as voting districts and polling place assignments may have changed due to the adoption of the new state reapportionment plan.

US Senate candidates Ed Case and Mazie Hirono squared off on Maui today in one of three joint appearances planned this week. Maui Now was on hand to record the event in its entirety.

Maui voters will have an opportunity to view a live forum and debate between US Senate candidates Ed Case and Mazie Hirono. The event is hosted by AARP Hawaii, with the forum portion of the event focusing on Social Security and Medicare, as well as other issues of concern to residents age 50 and over.

The filing for the Sixth Senatorial District officially kicks off Baker’s campaign as she seeks to continue representing the South and West Maui area.

The Office of Elections issued a reminder to individuals who want to run for office, that the candidate filing deadline for the 2012 election cycle is Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 4:30 p.m.

Maui County Council candidate for Kahului, Don Guzman announced that he will be having his Maui Campaign Rally on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 5:30 p.m.

State Senate candidate, Barbara Haliniak, will host a campaign event on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hana Bay Pavilion in East Maui.

A trio of Maui Mayors, past and present, joined hands today in endorsing congressional candidate and former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann for Hawaii’s 2nd District. Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa joined former mayors Charmaine Tavares and James “Kimo” Apana in making the endorsement announcement at the Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapu.

Congressional candidate Tulsi Gabbard filed nomination papers today for the 2nd District that includes Maui. Gabbard, who currently serves as a member of the Honolulu City Council, made her candidacy official by filing papers at the Office of Elections.

Councilmember Mike White today filed nomination papers for re-election to Maui County Council’s Makawao, Ha‘ikū and Pā‘ia residency seat. As of May 17, no other candidates were listed as potential contenders for the Makawao, Ha‘ikū and Pā‘ia residency seat.
