Maui police arrested and charged a Wailuku man with first degree arson and terroristic threatening after he allegedly attempted to set fire to his residence in ʻĪao on Thursday night.

Pacific Media Group today announced that it has appointed Joshua Mednick as Chief Revenue Officer for the company, and General Manager for its Hawaiʻi Island and Kaua‘i radio station clusters, effective March 2, 2020.

A Kaua‘i judge today maintained bail for Lori Vallow Daybell at $5 million, and set a hearing for Monday March 2, 2020 at 9 a.m. in a missing children case that has garnered national attention. 

Update: (4:24 p.m., Feb. 21, 2020): A brush fire reported overnight in Olowalu is now 100% contained as of 4:24 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, according to Maui fire officials. Maui Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro said crews worked throughout the day to secure the perimeter and cool down stubborn hotspots. “Personnel will continue mop up operations and monitoring of the fire area through the night,” said Yatsushiro.

The Kaua‘i Police Department arrested 47-year-old Lori Vallow (a.k.a. Lori Daybell) of Idaho on Thursday in relation to an investigation being conducted by the Rexburg Police Department.

The Coast Guard is seeking the public’s help identifying the owner of a white, stand-up paddle board found 2 miles off Launiupoko, Maui, Thursday.

The Department of Health has been notified of at least four Hawaiʻi residents who were passengers on the Westerdam cruise ship (Holland America) and have returned home.  DOH is contacting these individuals and was advised that the cruise passengers are not at risk and do not pose a risk to others.
