The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Maui, Lānaʻi and Kahoʻolawe, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.

The 23rd Annual Pā‘ia Bay Beachfest, Beachfest2020, takes place on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 25 and 26, 2020.  

Wisdom, a Laysan albatross and the world’s oldest known, banded wild bird has returned to Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge and Battle of Midway National Memorial. Wisdom is at least 69 years old and has hatched more than 35 chicks over the course of her lifetime.

The chemical is a metabolite of methyl parathion, the active ingredient in Penncap-M, the same banned pesticide identified in the recent Monsanto case on Maui.

The public is advised of a water quality exceedance of enterococci at Wailea Beach, Maui. Levels of 384 per 100 mL were detected during routine beach monitoring by the Department of Health Clean Water Branch.  That’s above the threshold of 130 enterococci per 100 mL.

An alligator lizard was found on a Christmas tree in Hilo on Hawaiʻi Island over the weekend and a green iguana was captured this week in Waimānalo, Oʻahu.
