Record $8.1M in federal energy credits helps 7,500 electric customers
More than 7,500 Hawaiian Electric customers received a record $8.1 million in federal credits to reduce their energy bills, about $2.5 million more than last year.

Raccoon captured in shipping container on Oʻahu
A raccoon was captured Wednesday in a shipping container of household goods and furniture on Oʻahu. The container came from Maryland via California and arrived at Honolulu Harbor on March 19.

Honolulu City Council member introduces bill to cut down on opioid-related deaths
Following the Federal Drug Administration’s approval of the lifesaving opioid overdose reversal medication “naloxone” as an over-the-counter medication this morning, Honolulu City Councilmember Tyler Dos Santos-Tam introduced Bill 28, which requires certain bars, nightclubs, and other high-risk venues to maintain doses of naloxone spray on site in case of an overdose.

Phase 1 excavation complete at Haleakalā following 700 gallon fuel spill
Workers removed approximately 43 sacks of soil estimated at 84,000 pounds, replacing it with soil gathered at a nearby site. The soil removed is being safely stored at the summit of Haleakalā until a remediation plan is approved in Phase 3.
