The department recommends residents boil water for at least a minute before consumption as a precaution against possible bacteria in tap water.

Dec. 30, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 3,484 new cases in Hawaiʻi
The state Department of Health is reporting a COVID-19 count of 3,484 new cases today, surpassing the previous record for daily new cases of 2,205 reported on Sunday, Dec. 26. Todayʻs count includes 334 cases on Maui, 242 on Hawaiʻi Island, 147 on Kauaʻi, 21 on Molokaʻi, one on Lānaʻi, and 59 out of state, as the Omicron surge continues.

In November 2021, 202,246 visitors to Maui spent $352 million, which was 6.8% less than the $378 million spent by the 232,330 tourists in pre-pandemic November 2019.
