Update/Open: Department of Health closes Maui Beach Ballroom due to cockroach infestation

Update (8:26 a.m., Jan. 16, 2026) The Hawai‘i Department of Health Maui Food Safety Branch issued Maui Beach Ballroom a green placard on Jan. 15, 2026, authorizing its reopening after a follow-up inspection showed the cockroach infestation to be eliminated. All areas of harborage and attractant within the kitchen were also observed to be cleaned and repaired.

Update/Open: DOH issues red placard to Maui L&L on Dairy Road for a cockroach infestation

Update: (May 23, 2025) The Hawai‘i Department of Health Maui Food Safety Branch allowed a Maui location of L&L Hawaiian Barbecue to reopen, issuing a green “pass” placard during a follow-up inspection on May 23, 2025. The establishment, operated by Maui L & L Food Inc., is located at 270 Dairy Road, Unit #170, Kahului, within the Maui Marketplace Food Court.

Update/Open: Ramen Bones in Kahului, Maui gets green “pass” after follow-up inspection

The Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) Maui Food Safety Branch allowed Ramen Bones to reopen, issuing a green “pass” placard during a follow-up inspection on March 27, 2025. The establishment is operated by Ramen Bones Inc., and is located at 44 Ho‘okele St., in Kahului, Maui.

Update: DOH allows Wailuku business to reopen after second follow-up inspection

The Hawai‘i Department of Health Maui Food Safety Branch issued Takamiya Market a green “Pass” placard and approved its reopening after a second follow-up inspection on April 26, 2024. On Friday, no active pest activity was observed. The establishment had contracted with a professional pest control company to have routine treatments and monitoring stations. Another inspection will be conducted in the future to recheck the establishment’s efforts to eradicate any additional pest activity.

Update: Lahaina Eatery Reopens After Follow-Up Inspection

A follow-up inspection is scheduled for Dec. 2, 2021 to determine the status of the clean-up efforts before being allowed to reopen to the public.
