County announces amended sewer service status for West Maui lots
Sewer service status was recently amended for several properties in West Maui, making service active for several lots near Kopili St. and Puiki Place, as well as one lot near the Kuhua St. and Lahainaluna Road intersection.
Debris clearing, sewer design, cesspool inspections among topics at Disaster Recovery Community Update Meeting
The meeting will include a status report on debris clearing by the US Army Corps of Engineers, a Hawaiʻi Department of Education update on Kamehameha III Elementary School, and an Environmental Protection Agency update on Wahikuli cesspool inspections and information on the agency’s new sewer line design project.

The meeting will feature a presentation by representatives of the Lahaina Community Land Trust, updates on water and wastewater progress and highlights from the recent Kuhinia Maui gatherings. Col. Eric Swenson, US Army Corps of Engineers Recovery Field Office Commander, will introduce Lt. Col. Collin Jones who will this week assume oversight of USACE operations in Lahaina’s recovery as Col. Swenson completes his sixth-month assignment to Maui.
Wednesday Disaster Recovery Community Update Meeting to be held in Lahaina Civic Center gym
The meeting will include an update on alleviating traffic by restoring Honoapiʻilani Highway as a secondary route for through traffic only, a presentation by Lahaina Land Trust and a report on the status of debris clearing by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The County of Maui Planning Department will do a review of the new Special Management Area/shoreline rules that were signed by Mayor Richard Bissen on July 26.
