Flood Advisory until 4:30 p.m.: additional rain falling over windward East Maui
At 1:23 p.m., radar showed additional heavy rain over East Maui, where heavy rain has already fallen earlier today. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Some locations that will experience flooding include: Kīpahulu, Nāhiku, Kaupō, Keʻanae, Hāna, Kula, Haleakalā National Park, Wailua, Hāmoa and Kailua.
Kona low continues to bring unsettled weather: Flood Watch continues
The Flash Flood Warning is canceled for the island of Maui as of 2:38 p.m. The National Weather Service reports that the heavy rain has ended. Hāna Highway has been reopened, but portions of Piʻilani Highway remain closed. A Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 p.m. on Friday for all of the main Hawaiian Islands.

Maui Under Flood Watch Through Tonight
The Island of Maui is under a Flood Advisory until noon on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018.
Maui Flood Watch Through Friday Afternoon
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the island of Maui in Maui County until 10:15 a.m. At 7:16 a.m., radar indicated stationary thunderstorms producing heavy rain upslope from Kipahulu and Kaupo.

Streams are already high from recent rain and grounds are saturated. Thus most of this rainfall will lead to runoff and dangerously high water levels in streams.
