Hawaiian Electric has re-energized all West Maui circuits impacted by the Public Safety Power Shutoff program. At this time, all customers who can have power restored safely should have electricity. However, a PSPS Watch remains in effect for parts of Maui and Hawaiʻi Island.

Hawaiian Electric monitoring wildfire risk conditions on Hawai‘i Island

Due to a significant shift in weather with low humidity and strong wind gusts on Hawai‘i Island today, Hawaiian Electric is monitoring conditions that may lead to an increased risk of wildfires. This PSPS watch could also potentially extend to Maui and O‘ahu later this week based on current weather forecasts.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from noon today through Saturday afternoon for mainly leeward areas due to windy conditions and low humidity.

Wind Advisory: Localized gusts up to 50 mph in forecast

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for portions of Maui, Lānaʻi and Hawaiʻi Island through 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2024. The NWS forecast calls for east winds blowing at 20-30 mph with localized gusts up to 50 mph.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Lānaʻi and portions of Hawaiʻi Island as a cold front continues to push south of the Big Island this morning.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect through 6 p.m. for the leeward areas of Maui County and the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. Strong trade winds and low relative humidity will combine with dry fuels to bring critical fire weather conditions for the eastern half of the state through this afternoon.
