Update: Hāna Shelter OPENS; Shelters CLOSE in Central and South Maui
As of 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, emergency shelters have opened in Central and South Maui at: War Memorial Gym in Wailuku; and Kamaliʻi Elementary School Cafeteria in Kīhei.
Water Shutdown Planned on West Kuiaha Road, Dec. 15-16
A portion of homes on West Kuiaha Rd. from Kaupakalua Road down through Haʻikū Road will have their water shut-off from approximately 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day.
Portion of Kaupakalua Road to Close for Repaving Project, Jan. 16 and 23
The Department of Public Works will close a portion of Kaupakalua Road in Haʻikū on Jan. 16 and 23 for a road repaving project from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
MPD: Suspect Uses a Golf Club to Strike Bicyclist in “Unprovoked Attack” in Ha‘ikū, Maui
On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, between 9:30 and 10 p.m., a male was riding his bicycle on Haʻikū Road when he was confronted by another male operating a newer model white pickup truck, possibly a Toyota. Police say the suspect exited the vehicle and struck the bicyclist with a golf club several times, causing injury.
Roots School in Haʻikū to Host Open House
The Roots School in Ha’ikū will be hosting an open house on Sept. 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Traffic Advisory: Ha‘ikū Road Now OPEN, Downed Tree Removed

UPDATE: Haʻikū Home Fire Causes $130,000 in Damages
Maui fire crews are responding to a structure fire near the 1000 block of Haʻikū Road on Aoku Place. The incident was reported at around 6:31 a.m. on Feb. 6.
Weather Delays Completion of Haʻikū Road Culvert
Due to constant rain delays, the completion of Haʻikū culvert and embankment repairs project along Haʻikū Road has been pushed back to October 2016, county officials announced.
