Four residents were displaced by a house fire reported on Maile St. in Hāliʻimaile on Saturday afternoon. Fire crews responded to the alarm at 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 28.

Maui fire crews are battling a brush fire in gulch below Hāliʻimaile Road on Maui. At around 5 p.m. precautionary evacuations were being conducted for homes along Aoiki Street and the makai side of Leie Street.
Hāli‘imaile Brush Fire 100% Contained
Firefighters gained 100% containment on a large brush fire in Hāliʻimaile as of 1 p.m. today. The fire started early Wednesday morning near the Kailua Gulch makai of Hāliʻimaile Road and remained at 4300 acres this afternoon.
4300 Acres Burned in Hāli‘imaile Brush Fire, 75% Contained
An estimated 4,300 acres was charred in the Hāliʻimaile fire that started early Wednesday morning. Containment is now 75%. There are 25 Maui Fire personnel on scene this afternoon, including air support from the department’s Air 1 and Air 2 helicopters.
Firefighters Cut Large Firebreak to Protect Skill Village Residents
The approximately 3,000-acre fire remains about a half mile away and does not pose any immediate threat. Fire crews continue to work on-scene and police are ready to respond, if needed.
UPDATE: Residents of Skill Village in Pāʻia Advised to be Prepared for Possible Evacuation
A brush fire is burning in the Pāʻia area. The Maui Emergency Management Agency issued a notification at 10:04 p.m. (7.8.20) for Skill Village residents to “prepare your families, pets, and residences for possible evacuation if notified. Monitor for additional information and be prepared for possible evacuation.”

200 Acres Scorched in Unscheduled Cane Fire
The unscheduled cane fire burned about 200 acres next to Kaheka Road, which skirts around the west side of Hāliʻimaile Town.
