Maui Fire Department conducted floodwater rescues overnight in South Maui; also last night, dozens of people, who are now at a shelter, were cut off in Hāna due to road washout. Over the last 14 hours, some areas received more than 20 inches of rain (Kula) and wind gusts more than 70 mph (Kaunakakai).
Visitor Injured in 15 Foot Fall at Ka‘uiki in Hāna, Maui
Fire officials say the man, described as a 22-year-old from Minnesota, was attempting to hike from Hāna Bay around Kaʻuiki Head to Kaihalulu when the incident occurred.

A 56-year-old female visitor from France was rescued from the Kīpahulu area of Haleakalā National Park in East Maui on Sunday afternoon.
Mauian Injured in 15-Foot Fall at Red Sand Beach
The 32-year-old man suffered a broken lower right led and sustained serious head injuries in the fall. A Maui man was airlifted from Kaihalulu Bay in Hāna on Saturday after falling about 15 feet from a rock outcropping.
Speed, Alcohol Suspected in Fatal Hāna Crash
Authorities have since identified the man as John Boyd Krause, 19, of Hāna, Maui. The accident was reported at 5:38 a.m. on Sunday, June 3, along the highway just south of Kakio Road in the Hāna district near Hāmoa.
Visitor Falls 15 Feet From East Maui Trail
A 62-year-old male visitor was transported by Medivac to the hospital after falling about 15-feet off the trail above Kaihalulu Bay in East Maui, authorities said.
