DOH alerts public to recall of So Delicious Dairy Free Salted Caramel Cluster Frozen Dessert

The Hawai‘i Department of Health Food and Drug Branch is alerting residents to a recall issued by Danone US for its So Delicious Dairy Free Salted Caramel Cluster Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert pints. The recall was issued because of the potential presence of foreign materials, such as small stones and other hard objects, within the cashew inclusions.

Third possible case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza detected in Hawaiʻi

Hawaiʻi’s first detection of H5N1 occurred in November 2024 in a backyard flock on Oʻahu, followed by a hybrid duck found on Oʻahu’s North Shore. This year, two additional cases have been confirmed in migratory Koloa Māpu ducks—one on Oʻahu and one on Maui. This Kauaʻi detection is the first potential case in a native bird, likely introduced through infected migratory waterfowl.

DOH: Second wastewater detection of measles in Maui County

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health has been notified of a second detection of measles virus in wastewater from West Maui County. The latest positive sample was collected Nov. 30, 2025 and was tested through the National Wastewater Surveillance System.

DOH Monitoring first wastewater detection of measles in Maui County

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health is monitoring a positive wastewater sample for the measles virus, the first-ever wastewater detection of the virus for Maui County. The samples were collected Nov. 18, 2025, at two sites in Central and West Maui County, and tested through the National Wastewater Surveillance System. The virus detected is the naturally occurring type that spreads from person to person, not the weakened form used in vaccines. No suspected measles cases have been identified on Maui.

Hawaiʻi DOH reports 14th travel-related dengue virus case of 2025

The Hawai‘i Department of Health has identified a new travel-related case of dengue virus on Oʻahu, bringing the total number of dengue cases to 14 in the state in 2025 (one on Maui, 13 on Oʻahu). The affected individual in this current case was exposed to the virus while traveling in a region where dengue is common and is not connected to prior cases.

High Bacteria Count Advisory issued at Fleming Beach, Maui

The public is advised of a water quality exceedance of enterococci at Fleming Beach (North), Maui. Levels of 207 per 100 mL have been detected during routine beach monitoring. The beach has been posted and this advisory will remain in effect until water sample results no longer exceed the threshold level of 130 enterococci per 100 mL.

The Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) has confirmed a case of neuroangiostrongyliasis, or rat lungworm disease, in an adult on the island of Kaua‘i. Rat lungworm disease is known to be endemic in all islands of the state of Hawai‘i. This individual had no history of travel to other neighbor islands, or outside the state or country.
