The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui will honor three exceptional scholarship recipients at the upcoming Maui Matsuri Kick-Off event on May 20.

Students Receive Scholarships for Promoting Japanese Language and Culture

The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui awarded the Asa Ellison Memorial Scholarship worth $1,750 to Leilah V. Eusebio of King Kekaulike High School for her efforts in perpetuating the Japanese culture and language.

Applications Sought For Cultural Scholarship, Late President Asa Ellison Honored

The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui is calling Maui high school students who graduated this year to apply for their 2020 cultural scholarships, including a new scholarship honoring its late president, Asa Ellison. Applicants will be awarded $1,000 scholarships for demonstrating their involvement in perpetuating Japanese culture and/or language in the community.

Murakami, Kurokawa and Tanaka Honored as Nihon Bunka Awardees for 2020

Three Nihon Bunka recipients–Reverend Shinkai Murakami, Kirk Kurokawa and Senator Joe Tanaka–will be honored for their excellence and dedication in the perpetuation of the Japanese culture.
