A blessing was held over the weekend to bring into service a new wildland firefighting apparatus for the Maui Fire Department. This vehicle is the first of a total of seven new firefighting apparatus being donated to the Maui Fire Department through a collective effort by the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund. The initiative is supported by the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation’s “Maui Strong Fund” as well as a contribution from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez.

Habitat for Humanity Maui announced it is the recipient of a $3 million donation from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. This contribution, one of the largest in the organization’s history, will directly support Habitat Maui’s ongoing efforts to address Maui’s urgent need for affordable housing, especially in light of the recent wildfires and the worsening housing crisis on the island, organization leaders said.

The Hawai‘i Community Foundation announced a $2.128 million grant to the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation. The total award amount comprises $1 million from HCF’s Maui Strong Fund and $1.128 million donated by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. The new trucks will have the ability to drive off-pavement, allowing crews to better reach wildfires early and prevent them from spreading.

Scouting America, Aloha Council has announced a landmark donation of $1 million from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. This contribution will be instrumental in replacing the bunkhouse cabins at Camp Maluhia, supporting program and operational needs council-wide, and strengthening its endowment. Bezos, who has a home on Maui, has shown support for the Aloha Council in the past, previously donating $500,000 in 2023.

Salesforce Inc. Chief Executive Officer Marc Benioff and his wife, Lynne Benioff, today announced one of the largest single private donations in Hawai’i’s history.

Mālama Family Recovery Center is the recipient of a grant of $90,000 per year for two years from the Nuestro Futuro Foundation, to support a pilot project of the new Supplemental Treatment Program.

Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Centers, Inc., Maui’s largest homeless shelter provider, today announced that it has received a $5 million dollar grant from the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund—the largest private gift in the organization’s history.

A “Concert for Ukraine in the Maui Sunflowers” on Sunday, April 24, is sold out, but organizers say they are still taking donations to match philanthropists Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez who, together, will donate up to $50,000 to match funds raised as part of this event.

Maui Memorial Medical Center today announced a donation from Amazon Founder and Executive Chair, Jeff Bezos. The donation will be used to expand the hospitalʻs Emergency Department.

Through generous gifts from major donors, like Jeff Bezos, Grow Some Good is able to provide direct support through this scholarship fund. For the fiscal year 2021-2022, the nonprofit will award two scholarships of $1,000 each to local high school seniors pursuing relevant college programs.

Habitat for Humanity Maui is the latest nonprofit on Maui to receive a “generous personal donation” from Amazon Founder and Executive Chair Jeff Bezos.

Funds will also help replace a deficit of funding from a federal grant that was not renewed this year. Mālama serves approximately 90 women and 50 youth annually, with at least 85% identifying as unsheltered.

Amazon founder and Executive Chair, Jeff Bezos has made two more personal donations to nonprofits on Maui, bringing the growing list of philanthropy on Maui for the e-commerce executive to four.  Today’s announcements include monetary donations of unspecified amounts to the Hawaiʻi Land Trust and the Mālama Family Recovery Center.
