#Kamehameha Parade

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises highway users of closures and delays on Kaʻahumanu Ave. (Route 32) and adjacent streets Saturday morning, June 15, for the Nā Kamehameha Commemorative Pā’ū Parade. Kaʻahumanu Ave. will be closed in both directions between Lunalilo Street and Kahului Beach Road (Route 3400) from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The parade begins at 9:45 a.m. at Baldwin High School and ends at Queen Kaʻahumanu Center.

The 2023 Nā Kamehameha Commemorative Pā‘ū Parade and Ho‘olaule‘a is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2023, celebrating the theme “E ala e nā kini o ka ʻāina!” – Arise all people of the land! The deadline to submit an application is May 26, 2023.

The 2021 Nā Kamehameha Commemorative Pā‘ū Parade and Ho‘olaule‘a is going virtual this year, and will be available for release next Saturday, June 19, 2021.

On Saturday, June 15 the parade will commence at 9:45 a.m. from Kenui Street along Front Street to Shaw Street.

Lahaina celebrated King Kamehameha I with its annual parade along Front Street on Saturday, June 16, 2018, which embraced the theme “Ola ke aloha no nā aliʻi – The love for our aliʻi lives on.”

The Royal Order of Kamehameha I – Kahekili Chapter on Maui commemorated the life of Kamehameha the Great in procession in Kahului today. A separate, celebratory, Paʻu Parade and Hoʻolaulea honoring the Kamehameha line will take place this Saturday in West Maui.

Applications are now available for participation in the upcoming Nā Kamehameha Commemorative Pāʻū Parade & Hoʻolauleʻa, scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 13 in Lahaina. Interested organizations and groups are invited to submit an application before the Friday May 29, 2015 deadline.

The 62-foot double-hulled voyaging canoe has been under construction for the past 17 years at Kamehameha Iki Park in West Maui, but work to build the vessel actually began in the mid 1990s.

In observance of King Kamehameha Day on Maui, the Royal Order of Kamehameha hosts a march beginning at 9 a.m. from the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College to Hoaloha Park. A separate observance is planned this weekend in West Maui. Nā Kamehameha Commemorative Pāʻū Parade & Hoʻolauleʻa is planned from 9 a.m. to sunset on Saturday, June 15.

This year, the event will celebrate Hawai’i’s ali’i through the State Commission theme: “Holomua Kamehameha” – Honoring the 125 years of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop’s educational legacy.
