The average price in Kahului is $4.49, which is two cents lower than last week and 25 cents lower than a year ago.

Gas prices have seen a modest uptick in most cities across the state over the past week, reflecting seasonal demand and market fluctuations, according to the latest AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch.

In Kahului, the average price is $4.57, which is six cents lower than last week and 24 cents lower than a year ago.

The AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch reports that gas prices are experiencing a slight decline in most cities. The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.59, which is one cent less than last week and 18 cents lower than a year ago. The national average gas price is $3.15, which is four cents less than last week. 

“Gas prices are remaining steady, though there are slight fluctuations in some areas,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaiʻi general manager. In Kahului, the average price is $4.66, which is the same as last week and 17 cents lower than a year ago.

In Kahului, the average price of $4.76 is five cents lower than last week, the same as last month and 30 cents lower than a year ago.

Gas prices in most of Hawaiʻi dropped again over the past week and were overall lower for 2023 than last year, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.

Hawaiʻi drivers got some relief at the pump in the last week as gas prices dropped to more than 40 cents lower than this time last year in most areas, according to the AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch.

Hawaiʻi gas prices skyrocketed to the second highest in the nation behind California.

Hawaiʻi gas prices were mixed over the past week with Wailuku, Līhuʻe and Kahului reporting declines from the week before; while Hilo saw an increase and Honolulu’s price was unchanged.

Hawaiʻi continues to have the highest average statewide price in the US, and supplies remain sufficient to keep prices fairly flat for the time being

The agency’s metro area report for Wailuku showed the price of a gallon of regular gas at $4.05 today, down six cents from last week, 20 cents from last month, 12 cents from last year, and down 93 cents from the high of $4.98 reported on May 9, 2011.
