Maui police issue 383 citations, 68 warnings for traffic violations in February
The Maui Police Department, Traffic Division issued 383 citations and 68 warnings for various traffic violations and infractions in February. For the month of February, the DUI Task Force, along with other officers from the Solo Bike Detail and the
Vehicular Homicide Unit, made 33 arrests of motorists operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant, and 27 arrests for various other offenses.
Impaired driving enforcement campaign launched ahead of Fourth of July weekend
The Maui Police Department launches its Fourth of July Weekend – Impaired Driving Enforcement Campaign on Friday, July 1. Enforcement will continue through the holiday weekend, with sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols planned at various locations.

To date, Maui police have issued 647 citations for Distracted Driving compared to 359 citations issued this same time last year. The heightened enforcement runs from April 17-23.
Maui Police Launch “Operation Speed Jam” Enforcement Campaign, Nov. 8
To date, MPD has made 4,849 speed-related contacts which include citations and written warnings, compared to 3,447 this same time last year. This represents a 40% increase in speeding alone in Maui County.
Maui Police Make 21 Arrests for Impaired Driving Over Labor Day Weekend
Police made a total of 21 impaired driving arrests, including one arrest for habitually operating a vehicle while under the influence.Police also towed 21 vehicles as part of a tow ordinance that allows police to do so as a condition of DUI arrests.
Maui Police Conduct Graduation and Memorial Day Impaired Driving Enforcement
Officers will be looking for impaired drivers at various locations to address the dangerous and often deadly consequences of impaired driving over the High School Graduation and Memorial Day weekend.
