Maui fire crews responded to the Maui Meadows neighborhood on Sunday for a report of an electric trike that caught fire while being charged. The incident was reported at 6:34 p.m. on Dec. 15 at a residence on Mililani Place.
Wailea road closure at Kalai Waʻa Street due to brush fire
Kalai Waa Street in Wailea is closed from Wailea Mauka to Halapa due to a brush fire mauka of the road. No structures are involved or in danger at this time. Crews from the Maui police and fire departments are on scene.

Maui Fire Department crews responded to 20 emergency calls for fires over the Fourth of July holiday. The majority of these fires were small brush fires and rubbish bin fires which could be quickly extinguished, according to department reports; however, there were two brush fires that required response from multiple units.

A brush fire located mauka of the Pi’ilani Highway burned an estimated 50 acres on Tuesday. Firefighters will remain on scene today to address hot spots.

An estimated four acres of brush burned in a fire near the wastewater facility off of the Piʻilani Highway in Kīhei on Thursday afternoon.

The brush fire was first reported at 1:19 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021, in an undeveloped lot between Keala Place and Auhana Road. It burned 2.5 acres of brush before being brought under control.

Maui fire officials say the fire originated in the living room of the rental, and started from smoldering debris within a trash can. The incident was first reported at 3:40 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012, at a 700-square foot wooden structure located at 3500 Kehala Drive.
