The state Department of Health reports that there were 99 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Hawai‘i on Friday, including 49 on O‘ahu, 37 on Maui, seven on Hawai‘i Island, and six in Hawai‘i residents diagnosed out of state. There were a total of 823 cases logged over the past two weeks, 294 of them in Maui County.

Maui Humane Society to Hold Baby Shower for Kittens, March 20

Maui Police Investigating Suspicious Male in Olinda Forest

The Maui Police Department is currently investigating a complaint of a suspicious male seen in the Olinda Forest area of the Waihou Spring Trail in Makawao. Police received a tip from a concerned citizen who had also observed a suspicious male in camouflage clothing in the area of the Pine Forest Trail in Makawao a couple of weeks before the Waihou Spring Trail incident. It is unknown if the male in each incident is the same person.

Maui Flood Advisory Until 10:30 p.m.

At 7:29 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain over north and east slopes of Maui. “A band of showers will continue to produce moderate to heavy showers over the islands for the next few hours. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour,” according to the NWS forecast.

Hawai‘i National Guard to Deploy 80 Members to Washington D.C.

The Hawaiʻi National Guard is set to deploy about 80 of its members to Washington, D.C. to support US Capitol Police until early May.
