LCLT Report: Zero homes sold within typical Maui residents’ financial reach in 2024

In actuality, the typical household can comfortably afford a $379,000 house. But in 2024, there were zero homes sold within that price range, and only a half dozen single-family transactions under $500,000, according to the LCLT report.

Avis-Budget car rental outlet opens at Maui Mall Village 

An Avis-Budget rental office has opened at Maui Mall Village, giving kamaʻāina and visitors a convenient alternative location for all their car rental needs on the Valley Isle. The outlet, which features a full-service rental counter, is located next to IHOP and Crystal Dreams. Rental cars may be picked up from and returned to reserved stalls conveniently located in the Maui Mall Village parking lot.

Kama‘āina receive $10 admission for World Ocean Day 

World Ocean Day is held each year on June 8 to “help unite and rally the world to protect and restore our blue planet.” Maui Ocean Center will celebrate World Ocean Day with family-friendly activities including live music, art projects and marine naturalist presentations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 8. Discounted admission for kama‘āina, with valid Hawaiʻi state ID, is $10 per person (ages 3 and younger are free).

Dozens of wellness providers, such as massage therapists and counselors, have volunteered their services for a free community pop-up clinic this Friday, Aug. 25, and Saturday, Aug. 26. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at the parking lot outside of Maui Ocean Center. The two-day clinic will be followed by free admission to Maui Ocean Center for kamaʻāina from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last entry at 4 p.m.) this Sunday, Aug. 27.
