#Keeaumoku Kapu

The Kaʻapuni or circle-island march will cover the 12 moku or districts of Maui, and is described as a spiritual journey.

Kapu: “The mayor is just circumventing his own process and policies to allow these things to happen, and I think it’s wrong.”

The demonstration included various battle formations and mock battles between lua students from across the island chain. The ancient Hawaiian martial art is practiced by several groups on Maui, two of which are led by residents Ke’eaumoku Kapu and Kyle Nakanelua.

The Governor said some of the measures will not work as they are written. He said others create additional work for departments without funding to carry them through.

The Ka’apuni marchers completed a 193 mile trek abound Maui with renewed faith and hope for the future. In closing out the seven day journey, event organizer Ke’eaumoku Kapu reflected upon the kupuna and ancestors who he said serve as a source of light for the next generation.

Motorists traveling on the Honoapiilani Highway today are advised to use extra caution as marchers in a week-long journey around the island make their way toward their final destination in West Maui.
