The Hawaiʻi Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Hawaiʻi Agricultural Foundation and Hawaiʻi Restaurant Association Educational Foundation – will each receive $43,000 as part of ASB’s efforts to help Hawaiʻi’s local restaurant and food supply chain industry, two industries that were greatly affected during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The Hawaiian Electric Industries Charitable Foundation, on behalf of HEI, Hawaiian Electric and American Savings Bank, presented Maui United Way with a corporate contribution of $40,000 for the 2021-2022 Live United campaign.

American Savings Bank’s 2022 Kahiau Giving Campaign raised $362,043, which will allow local community organizations to continue providing critical resources and services to the community.

Helping Hands Hawaiʻi and American Savings Bank are partnering for the eighth year to help Hawaiʻi’s keiki prepare for school through the Ready to Learn program, which provides essential school supplies to low-income and houseless families.

Hawaiian Electric Industries report said utility reached a renewable portfolio standard of 38.4% in 2021, which is ahead of schedule for achieving Hawai‘i’s statutory goal of 40% by 2030.

American Savings Bank announced its charitable contributions for the 2021 calendar year totaled more than $1.5 million. The funds were donated to the community, benefiting nearly 80 local nonprofit organizations, according to a company announcement.

A school teacher at Pearl City High School that lives in Waipahu was presented with a big check to reward him for being vaccinated and entering the state’s #HIGotVaccinated contest.

American Savings Bank is requiring all employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by Oct. 31.

State officials say the incentives campaign and promotions contributed to a 30% increase in vaccinations over what was predicted. To date, 240,000 people have registered for the chance to win prizes at HIGotVaccinated.com.

School supplies are assembled into kits containing common supplies found on the Department of Education’s back-to-school lists. Each kit is valued at approximately $25 each and the goal is to distribute 1,000 kits to students.

During its 2021 Kahiau Giving Campaign, American Savings Bank and its employees pulled together and paddled hard to donate $360,708 to local community organizations.

Seven SBA-approved lenders have secured more than $1.2 billion in the second round of the federal Paycheck Protection Program to fund 12,887 local companies and support payrolls for an estimated 140,000 jobs statewide. The deadline to apply for PPP has been extended to May 31.

The Maui Chamber of Commerce announced Alaka‘i Paleka and Kathy Collins as the local celebrity hosts for the 7th Annual Virtual Hawaiian Airlines Made in Maui County Festival. The virtual event will feature shopping and interacting with vendors in virtual booths, a two-day live streaming component with QVC-style vendor presentations, sponsor messages, a chef’s demonstration, fashion show, vendor commercials, live musical entertainment and local programming.
