Fire officials called a 10 acre blaze near Kahului Airport under control at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011. The fire was first reported at 4:39 p.m.

The Maui Makani Classic, a championship conjoined with the American Windsurfing Tour, kicked-off Thursday, October 27 at Ho’okipa Beach with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m.

A 35-year-old man was airlifted from the mountains above Kahakuloa Village on Thursday after suffering a broken leg. The man was working with his uncle in the river above Kahakuloa Village when the incident occurred.

Judge Rhonda Loo ordered that an injunction hearing involving Halloween festivities in Lahaina be continued until this afternoon to allow attorneys more time to review legal documents. The court proceedings are set to resume at 1:30 p.m. today in 2nd Circuit Court on Maui.
