Officials say the vessel’s GPS malfunctioned while in transit and was blown off course overnight.  The next morning, the crew could not see land; and while they had a working compass and a northern heading, conditions continued to push them south.  

The Governor has granted the County of Maui’s request to reopen more businesses and activities on Monday, June 15, 2020. There are six new COVID-19 case reported on Oʻahu today, pushing the statewide count to 682 cases in Hawaiʻi over the course of the pandemic.  This comes in addition to a surge in cases over the weekend on Oʻahu. To date, 621 people (93.3%) have recovered including 113 in Maui County. There are currently 44 active cases in the state. Maui has a single case in home isolation. \

In the brief address, police had indicated that the investigation involves the missing children’s case of Tylee Ryan and Joshua “JJ” Vallow.  Ryan and Vallow are the children of Daybell’s new wife, Lori Vallow Daybell who was arrested on Kauaʻi in February and charged with two felony counts of desertion and nonsupport of dependent children when she failed to follow court orders to produce the children.

Hawaiian will offer up to six daily roundtrip flights between Honolulu and Līhu‘e, Kona and Hilo, and up to nine daily roundtrips between Honolulu and Kahului. The carrier’s ‘Ohana by Hawaiian operation will continue to offer twice daily service between Honolulu and Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i.

As of yesterday, there are no COVID-19 cases at the Maui Memorial Medical Center, and there is currently only one person in home quarantine with the virus, according to new information provided today by Maui Mayor Michael Victorino. Also, starting today, the Maui Memorial Medical Center begins universal testing for COVID-19 on all patients admitted through the Emergency Department and Obstetrics patients. 

Passive beach use is now allowed at all State Parks beaches, although some gates will remain locked for resource management, people’s safety and due to fiscal constraints. COVID-19 rules and social distancing guidelines remain applicable, following each county’s emergency orders. 

A team of eight law enforcement officers from the Kaua‘i Police Department, and the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement issued 15 citations on Sunday to people in the closed Kalalau Section of the Nā Pali Coast State Wilderness Park on Kaua‘i.

There were two new COVID-19 cases reported on Oʻahu today, pushing the statewide count to 675 case in Hawaiʻi over the course of the pandemic.  This comes after two consecutive days (on Friday and Saturday) in which the state Department of Health reported nine additional COVID-19 cases in Hawaiʻi.  To date, 617 people (93.7%) have recovered including 113 in Maui County. There are currently 41 active cases in the state.

After almost three months apart, family members of residents at the Hale Makua Health Services campus in Wailuku were treated to a drive through parade complete with decorated cars, firefighters, food, music and dancing.

For a second consecutive day, the state Department of Health is reporting nine additional COVID-19 cases in Hawaiʻi.  This includes eight new cases on Oʻahu and one case of a resident diagnosed outside of the state.  To date, 616 people (93.9%) have recovered including 113 in Maui County. There are currently 40 active cases in the state. Based on the current numbers, there is just one active case in Maui County.
