Maui police responded to 145 Fireworks Violations Calls for Service; 68 Fireworks Violations Documented Cases; and 14 Fireworks Violations Citations were Issued.

At 12:06 am, 30 year old man was severely injured when an unknown type of firework reportedly exploded in his face and knocked him unconscious. Fire personnel assisted Medics in treating the victim who suffered severe trauma to the left side of his face, as well as severe burns to his head, neck, and chest. He was transported by Medics to MMMC in critical condition.
