Surf is expected to be in the 6 to 10 foot range, rising to 8 to 12 feet on Wednesday, and building further into Thursday, according to the NWS.  

Dental Assisting Training Offered to Native Hawaiians

Enrollment is now open for an entry-level Dental Assisting training program offered through the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College’s Office of Extended Learning & Workforce Development. Upcountry Maui Water Shortage Lifted

A Stage 1 water shortage has been lifted for Upcountry.  The decision was made due to near-normal rainfall, a short-term forecast for more wet weather and adequate water storage in Upcountry reservoirs.

California Woman Injured, Three Airlifted from “Bamboo Forest” in Kailua, Maui

Fire officials say a 27-year-old woman from San Francisco, California was injured in a 25-foot fall. The woman landed on rocks adjacent to a pond and was unable to walk out on her own. Two members of her family, who reside in Kīhei, Maui, (a 47-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman) were also stranded due to a swollen stream following heavy rains in the area.

Maui Electric to be Known as Hawaiian Electric Going Forward

Starting in January, the three utilities that serve 95 percent of Hawaiʻi’s residents will be united under a common name: Hawaiian Electric. “Having three different names continues the three-company mindset,” Oshima said. “By having one common and inclusive name that is of Hawaiʻi, not just of one place, we signal that we are a strong and united team working for all the people of the five islands we serve.”

Man Critically Injured On Maui When Firework Explodes in Face

At 12:06 am, 30 year old man was severely injured when an unknown type of firework reportedly exploded in his face and knocked him unconscious. Fire personnel assisted Medics in treating the victim who suffered severe trauma to the left side of his face, as well as severe burns to his head, neck, and chest. He was transported by Medics to MMMC in critical condition.
