Wailuku man killed in skydiving accident at Hāna Airport in East Maui
A 58-year-old Wailuku man died in a skydiving accident at Hāna Airport in East Maui on Monday afternoon, police said. The man was wearing skydiving gear, a helmet, and a deployed parachute.
Hunger and homelessness resource fair & Thanksgiving community meal at UHMC, Nov. 17
The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College is once again joining forces with The Salvation Army to provide a community Thanksgiving meal to those in need. This year, by combining the Thanksgiving event with a Hunger & Homeless Resource Fair, guests will be able to eat a holiday meal and obtain resources and services they may need.

Maui County acquires 1.4 acres in ʻĪao Valley from Hawaiʻi Nature Center
The purchase surfaced for discussion in July when Mayor Michael Victorino transmitted a proposal to the Maui County Council to purchase the acreage and the structure that was the former ʻĪao Valley Lodge in ʻĪao Valley for $1.5 million from the Hawaiʻi Nature Center. The purchase includes existing structures and two parcels that total approximately 1.4 acres.

Hawai‘i nonprofit organization Kīpahulu ‘Ohana, Inc. announced the acquisition of a 9.5-acre coastal property known as ‘Ōpelu Point in Kīpahulu, Maui. The parcel will be protected as conservation land in perpetuity, in partnership with the County of Maui and the Hawai‘i Land Trust.

Hawaiʻi Craftsmen 2022 exhibit on Maui, Nov. 8-Dec. 23
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center welcomes Hawai‘i Craftsmen 2022, an annual juried exhibit traveling to Maui from O‘ahu after a run there. The exhibit features 114 works by 92 artists from Hawai‘i Island, Kaua‘i, Lāna`i, Maui, Moloka‘i, and O‘ahu.
