The Maui Police Department identified one more victim of the Aug. 8 Lahaina fire on Monday: Matsuyuki Osato, 83, of Lahaina.

Kupu, University of Hawaiʻi Maui College Food Relief Partnership to support Maui fire survivors

As part of this relief effort, UHMC culinary students will prepare 1,800-2,500 meals daily to feed Maui residents who have transitioned from emergency shelters to hotels and other temporary housing situations. The number of meals and residents served will adjust based on changing needs. For their time, UHMC culinary students will receive $16 an hour, a $1,459 Education Award provided by AmeriCorps, and access to health care benefits.

Hawaiʻi Catholic Community Foundation names Rojas director for Maui Disaster Relief

Longtime community development specialist Toni Rojas has been appointed as Director of Maui Disaster Relief by the Hawaiʻi Catholic Community Foundation. DOH provides health risk guidance on reentry to Maui wildfire impact zone

Monday, Sept. 25 marks the beginning of reentry for some two dozen addresses in Zone 1C within the inundation zone on Kaniau Road in Lahaina. As residents and owners are allowed reentry to their properties in the impacted areas of the Maui wildfires, the state Department of Health is sharing information on the health risks and potential emotional impacts involved.
