For the first time since the Lahaina fires, Cinco de Mayo celebrations are returning to the Front Street area—bringing a sense of joy, culture and community back to West Maui. Lahaina Cannery is proud to partner with Sergio’s Cantina to host a vibrant, all-day Cinco de Mayo celebration on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

Sergio’s Cantina was supposed to open in fall 2023, but the Lahaina wildfires delayed plans. Several months later, on Jan. 3, 2024, the restaurant opened at the Honokōwai Marketplace with a refreshed ambiance.

Music legend James Taylor has announced his return to Maui with his All-Star Band for a special outdoor concert under the stars at Alexander & Baldwin Amphitheater on Sunday, May 5.

A Cinco de Mayo celebration is planned on May 5, 2023 from 5 to 10 p.m. The event is organized by businesses in Lahaina Square, including Hungry Coyote Restaurant & Catering, RVN Deli Kitchen Catering, Eating Local, Anytime Fitness, E Foil, Tropical Salsa Studio and more.

Starting Friday and continuing through the weekend, the Maui police will increase impaired driving enforcement in conjunction with the Cinco de Mayo holiday.

Maui police made a total of 18 traffic-related arrests during a Cinco de Mayo Impaired Driving Enforcement campaign. This included 13 impaired driving arrests..

This free family event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Market Street. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Starting this Thursday, May 5th, The Maui Police Department will be participating in the campaign sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
