High Surf Advisory for south shores; Coastal Flood Statement for all Hawaiian Islands
A large south swell will gradually fill in on Friday and peak on Saturday near warning thresholds, according to the National Weather Service. Peak afternoon high tides, combined with elevated water levels running about a half a foot higher than predicted and a large south swell filling in, will lead to minor flooding along shoreline and low-lying coastal areas through Saturday. Water levels should fall below thresholds during peak afternoon high tides Sunday.
XL swell brings 30-40 foot warning level surf to the Hawaiian Islands
A High Surf Warning is in effect for the north and west shores of Molokaʻi, Oʻahu, Kauaʻi and Niʻihau, the north shores of Maui, and the west facing shores of Hawaiʻi Island through 6 a.m. Saturday.

The warning level surf is the result of a large northwest swell that will rapidly build from northwest to southeast down the island chain today.
