State Senator Lynn DeCoite hosts a virtual town hall meeting TONIGHT starting at 4:30 p.m., with State and County leaders to discuss the traffic congestion on Hāna Highway and in East Maui.

Road Work to Result in Lane Closures: Hāna/Haleakalā Highways

Fiber cable installation will be conducted from Jan. 9-12, resulting in single lane closures near the intersection of Hāna and Haleakalā Highways.

Work involves road maintenance on the Hāna Highway between Mile Markers 14 and 15 in Haʻikū and resurfacing work in Pāʻia near the Pāʻia Mini-Bypass.

Landslide/Downed Trees on Hāna Hwy: OPEN as of 4:40 a.m.

The Hāna Hwy (360) is now OPEN on the Pāʻia side of Puaʻa Kaʻa State Park near mile 22.5 where crews worked overnight to clear a landslide.

Treacherous Conditions: Hāna Hwy Landslides

In Honomanū at MP13, there is a large landslide and a tree is blocking the Hāna bound lane. Also at MP16 there is a smaller rock slide blocking the Hāna bound lane.

2nd Hāna Highway Landslide: Now Passable at Mile 14.5

The Hāna Hwy (360) is now passable in the area of mile marker 14.5 following a landslide reported across the road at the location on Monday night. This was the second major landslide along the road to Hāna with the first forcing the closure of the road for about 4 hours when rocks, mud and debris came down near mile 8.5 earlier in the day. The road is still wet and motorists are asked to proceed with caution if they chose to travel in the area.

Hazmat Incident Briefly Closes Hāna Highway

Firefighters arrived to find a 150 foot section on both lanes of Hāna Highway covered with round hockey puck type discs. It was believed to be solid chlorine tablets typically used in swimming pools.
