The company plans to work with a local nonprofit conservation group and future buyer to preserve the land’s agricultural legacy and historic ranching tradition in perpetuity. In advance of the sale, Bio-Logical Capital has dedicated six land parcels near Pā‘ani Mai Park to the County of Maui for affordable housing.

Hāna-based nonprofit community organization Ke Ao Hāliʻi (Save Hāna Coast), in partnership with the State of Hawaiʻi, County of Maui, and Hawai‘i Land Trust, announce the purchase and protection of more than 30 acres at Makaʻalae along Maui’s Hāna coast.

“There is a lot of potential for economic diversity here on Maui, especially with agriculture and value added products,” said Donovan Dela Cruz, Chair of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means. “We’re going to have to come up with a strategic plan on how we develop our education system so that we can create a skilled workforce, specifically for agriculture pipelines and value added pipelines.”

The Senate Committee on Ways and Means will be traveling to Maui on Oct. 18-20, 2021 to conduct site visits at various state and private facilities.  

Maui Cattle Company, a local business founded in 2002, hosts their third drive-up sale from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020 at their facility located at 106 South Kāne Street (between Kahului Foodland and Sysco) in Kahului.

All five of the independently-owned ranches will continue to be equity owners in Maui Cattle Company, and there will be no immediate changes to operations or employees, according to the announcement.

Building maintenance is forcing Hāna Ranch Provisions to halt operations, effective immediately. Both the dining room and to-go counter are closed for now.
