Due to the severe weather that continue to impact on Maui and Oʻahu, several public library locations are closed on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

Kahului Public Library reopens this Tuesday
The Kahului Public Library will reopen on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at noon after a brief closure to renovate the facility’s restrooms. Patrons can browse and borrow, pick up holds, return materials, use the library Wi-Fi, public computers, printer, and copier.
Kahului Public Library to temporarily close for construction, starting April 2
The Kahului Public Library will temporarily close beginning Tuesday, April 2, 2024 to repair and renovate the restrooms. At this time, the work is scheduled to be completed by the end of April.
Kahului Public Library reopens Dec. 5
“Although we were hoping to complete renovations before reopening to the public, the loss of the Lahaina Public Library in the terrible August fires prompted us to restore service in Kahului as quickly as possible,” said Stacey A. Aldrich, State Librarian.
Hawai‘i State Public Libraries Temporarily Suspend Computer Time Amid COVID-19 Concerns
Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the State, the Hawaiʻi State Public Library System will temporarily suspend Computer Time at all library branches statewide, from Aug. 16–31, 2020.
Maui ‘Ukulele Lending Program Launch Cancelled
