County of Maui officials are reminding motorists that this portion of the highway is meant to be an alternative to Lahaina Bypass used by through-traffic only.

Nighttime lane closure continues on Keawe Street

The northbound lane on Keawe Street between the Lahaina Bypass and Kupuohi Street will be closed at 9 p.m. each night, beginning Monday, June 3, to 5:30 a.m. the next day, with the work ending Friday morning, June 7. Traffic in both directions will be maintained through alternating lane control (contraflow) in the remaining lane. There will be signs and personnel to direct motorists at both ends of the work area.

EPA completes night operations on sanitary sewer lines in Lahaina

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has completed night operations that required road closures in order to inspect a portion of the sewer line system. EPA cleared and inspected sanitary sewer lines on Honoapiʻilani Highway and Keawe St., between Leialiʻi Parkway and Keawe St. in Lahaina. Night operations also took place within the wildfire affected area along the Honoapiʻilani Highway and up Lahainaluna Road.

Temporary signals at Keawe-Kupuohi intersection in Lahaina to be installed Wednesday morning

A portable, temporary traffic signal system will be installed at the intersection of Keawe and Kupuohi streets in Lahaina between midnight and 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, to allow safer access to and from Kupuohi Street. The temporary signals are planned to remain in place until a permanent system is designed and constructed.

The US Environmental Protection Agency will begin clearing and inspecting sanitary sewer lines on Honoapiʻilani Highway and Keawe Street in Lahaina starting the week of Feb. 26. Department officials say work will take place between Leialiʻi Parkway and Keawe Street (from Wahikuli Wayside Park to Safeway on Honoapiʻilani Highway and from Minit Stop to Honoapiʻilani Highway on Keawe Street).
