#Maui department of Housing and Human Concerns

Nonprofit and for-profit organizations in Maui County that offer or plan to offer programs or services in social welfare, youth services, alcohol and substance abuse, homelessness, youth centers or animal management are encouraged to apply for county Department of Housing and Human Concerns Fiscal Year 2025-26 grants.

Nonprofit leaders can learn how to build trust among volunteers while increasing retention and recognition of their work during an in-person workshop and networking opportunity sponsored by the Maui County Department of Housing & Human Concerns.

In 2019, the developer entered into a settlement agreement with project opponents. Because of that settlement agreement, the state Land Use Commission increased the number of workforce housing units in the project from 280 to 400. The department reports that the developer has taken the position that Maui Oceanview, LP, should receive 120 workforce credits for the increase in units that resulted from that agreement.

The Maui Department of Housing and Human Concerns Volunteer Center is hosting a free two-day Virtual Volunteer Leader Training Seminar via Zoom from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 9 and 10, 2021 led by Internationally renowned speaker Tobi Johnson will speak about community building and keeping connections with off-site or remote work volunteers. 

The Department of Housing and Human Concerns’ Kaunoa Senior Services divison is offering a variety of online classes via Zoom in May for seniors 55 years old and older. Signed waivers are required for exercise classes.
