Maui police narrow ‘Credible List’ of unaccounted for individuals to 22

The Maui Police Department has narrowed its list of unaccounted for individuals from the Aug. 8 Lahaina wildfire to 22 people. The updated list was released on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, and includes the following names:

Update/Located: Maui police seek help in locating missing Washington man

As of Friday, June 9, 2023, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Lopez was located and found to be in good health.  The Maui Police Department thanked the public for their assistance.

Missing Maui man: his vehicle and dog were found unattended at Nākālele Point

A 37-year-old Maui was reported missing after he failed to return from a short camping trip. Joseph Wyatt’s vehicle was found unattended at Nākālele Point. His dog was found Friday by nearby residents in the vicinity of his vehicle.

UPDATE: Maui Woman Reported Missing by Family Member is Located in Good Health

Update:  (8:45 a.m. 11.18.20) Susanne Matayoshi has been located in good health. The Maui Police Department thanks the public for their assistance.

New Details: Missing Woman Took Group Tour at Wai‘ānapanapa Prior to Disappearance

“A few days prior to Khiara’s disappearance, she took a group tour to Waiʻānapanapa Park. This is relevant because it shows that she took an interest in the park and probably intended to go back there on her own free will.”

Woman Missing, Vehicle Found in East Maui

Khiara Henry, 23, arrived on Maui on July 21, 2019, and the vehicle she rented was found at Waiʻānapanapa State Park in Hāna on July 25, 2019.

Family of Missing Maui Man, Noah “Kekai” Mina, Continues Search

“There’s no water up there,” said Vincent Mina.  Earlier in the search crews found the missing man’s slippers at around the 2500 foot level.  At the suggestion of firefighters, crews left water and food at the site, but checks of the area show nothing has been disturbed or taken since.

Community Support Sought in Search for Noah “Kekai” Mina

Community support is sought to fund helicopters for the ongoing air search. The family met with rescuers involved with the successful return of Amanda Eller.

Missing Hiker Located Uninjured at Polipoli Recreation Area

An 18-year-old Maui man was located uninjured at the Polipoli Recreation area in Kula, shortly after a search party was launched to find him.
