The public is invited to attend the 2024 State of the County Address, which will be presented by Mayor Richard T. Bissen, Jr. at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 15 at Maui Arts and Cultural Center’s Castle Theater. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino delivered his State of the County address in hybrid fashion Wednesday evening from the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. His address included a mix of video and live remarks in which he highlighted several priorities moving forward.

Originally planned as a virtual video presentation, the recent dramatic decline in COVID-19 cases has enabled a small audience of dignitaries to gather at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center for the mayor’s hybrid presentation that will combine live remarks and videotape.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino’s third State of the County Address will be a virtual event, scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9.

“Our community is in a better place than when we first began this journey,” said Mayor Arakawa, who highlighted the county’s 4.6% unemployment rate–the lowest its been since 2008.

During his 2012 State of the County Address, the mayor called on lawmakers to back a bill that addresses infrastructure tax credits and production credits to support the establishment of a film industry on Maui.

Because of limited seating within the Council Chambers, the mayor’s office will open up the 9th floor and allow members of the public to view the address via a live television feed…
