Class of 2025 high school graduation ceremonies scheduled
The first public school commencement on Maui is this coming Sunday, May 18, at War Memorial Stadium for Maui High School; followed by HP Baldwin High School on Monday, May 19; King Kekaulike High at Nā Aliʻi Stadium on Thursday, May 22; and Molokaʻi High School at the Molokaʻi High Gymnasium (The Barn) on Friday, May 23. Next weekend, Lānaʻi and Hāna host graduations on Saturday, May 24. The final public school graduation on Maui is at Lahainaluna High School on Sunday, May 25.
Lahainaluna and Maui High students shine at 2025 Citizen-Scholar Awards
RJ Arconado of Lahainaluna High School was named Top Maui County Scholar, and Ciana Cooper of Maui High School earned the prestigious title of Top Overall Female Scholar in the state. Both students were recognized for their academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to community service.

Molokaʻi kumu sets sail on deep sea exploration of Central Pacific Ocean aboard Nautilus vessel
A Hawaiian immersion program teacher from Molokaʻi sets sail this week as a Science Communication Fellow in a deep ocean exploration expedition with the Ocean Exploration Trust. Gandharva Mahina Hou Ross, a kumu at Molokaʻi High School’s O Hina I Ka Malama program, joins Ocean Exploration Trust’s (OET) expedition to Jarvis Island, in the US Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument, as part of a team of scientists and explorers.
Molokaʻi teacher selected to explore deep ocean aboard Nautilus vessel
Gandharva Mahina Hou Ross from O Hina I Ka Malama Hawaiian Language Immersion Program at Molokaʻi High School has been selected by Ocean Exploration Trust as a 2024 Science Communication Fellow. Ross, who originally hails from Waialua Manaʻe Molokaʻi, will sail aboard OET’s exploration vessel Nautilus this summer as part of a deep ocean exploration team.
