Maui lane closures for the week of Feb. 14-20

The state Department of Transportation has multiple lane closure scheduled on Maui for the week of Feb. 14-20, 2026. There will be no lane closures on Monday, Feb. 16 in observance of Presidents’ Day, unless permitted Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

One lane closed on Piʻilani Highway for shoulder work

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is advising highway users that the makai southbound lane on Pi‘ilani Highway (Route 31) in the vicinity of Keonekai Road, will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., in between milepost 5.6 and 5.8. One southbound lane will remain open for through traffic.

Shoulder along Piʻilani Highway to be closed for new intersection work starting Jan. 12

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is advising highway users that the mauka shoulder along Piʻilani Highway across East Waipuʻilani Road will be closed 24/7 beginning Monday, Jan. 12.

Maui Planning Commission members heard nearly six hours of public testimony Tuesday in Kīhei, with 58 of 66 testifiers opposed to developer requests for land-use amendments for the Honuaʻula master-planned community, a hotly debated 670-acre development south of Maui Meadows and mauka of Piʻilani Highway in South Maui.

A Holiday Lane Closure Restriction runs from Monday, Dec. 23, through Sunday, Jan. 5. Only closures with demonstrated need (e.g., necessary for safety or to avoid lengthy construction delays) have been approved and are on this list. There will be no lane closures on Wednesday, Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas Day.
