PacWhale Eco-Adventures hosts a festive Halloween Cocktail Cruise that departs from Māʻalaea on Halloween night.

Maui police netted 10 traffic arrested and issued 36 traffic citations during the Department’s Halloween enforcement effort. 

The Maui Police Department would like to remind the public that there will be road closures and slowed traffic due to this year’s Halloween event.

Police say there were no arrests made during this year’s event, but there were three traffic citations issued on Front Street.

According to the NHTSA, in 2015, over half of all highway fatalities across the nation on Halloween night involved a driver with a BAC of .08% or higher.

Following Lahaina’s keiki Halloween costume parade down Front Street Saturday, Oct. 31, The Wharf will hold its 32nd Annual Ghoulish Gala Karaoke Costume Contest.

The Halloween Cocktail Cruises depart at 6 and 6:30 p.m. from Mā’alaea Harbor.

Police say the enhanced enforcement will include multiple intoxication control checkpoints at various locations.

A family friendly Halloween event is planned at the Lahaina Cannery Mall in West Maui from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014. The event features Halloween magic, trick-or-treating, face painting, crafts and a keiki costume contest.

With the potential for larger crowds in Lahaina this year due to Halloween happening on a Friday night, Mayor Arakawa answers questions about safety measures to ensure a safe and family-friendly event.

There were a total of nine adults and two juveniles arrested at the Halloween event directly related to the evening’s festivities. Officials estimate that there were approximately as many people in attendance this year as there were last year.

Police will be closing Front Street from Baker Street to Prison Street at 3:30 p.m. and anticipate on re-opening Front Street at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Advance tickets go on sale beginning at noon today for the Lahaina Halloween Express shuttle that will operate on Oct. 31 for individuals looking for a way to get to and from the Front Street Halloween festivities.

Maui police are increasing officer presence during Halloween festivities in Lahaina this year in anticipation of a larger crowd projected at between 30,000 and 35,000.
