The American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaiʻi sent a letter to Maui Preparatory Academy on Wednesday, demanding that the school rescind a policy that it says “targets transgender students.”

Three West Maui Rotary Clubs came together earlier this month to host donation drives aimed at collecting school supplies for children in need. In just three days, 15 boxes of school supplies were gathered, and more than $1,300 raised.

Between July 19 and July 21, three Lahaina Rotary Clubs will collect school supplies and funds for children in need. The collection effort will be held each day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the entrance to the Lahaina Cannery Mall next to Longs Drugs.

Maui Preparatory Academy will present Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” at the Bozich Center for Athletics and Performing Arts on Nov. 17, 18, and 19.

Maui Prep would like to accommodate students who are looking to return to school this year

Maui Prep presents an online auction from May 13-17 in support of their Financial Aid Initiative. Currently 35% of Maui Prep’s student body receive some form of tuition assistance or financial aid. 

Maui Preparatory Academy is the recipient of a $25,000 grant from Central Pacific Bank Foundation. The grant award, distributed over two years, supports Maui Prep’s Financial Aid Initiative which offers tuition assistance to deserving students. Currently 35% of Maui Prep students receive tuition assistance.  

Awarded annually, the Pueo Scholarship is a full-tuition four-year scholarship awarded to a new incoming Maui Prep freshman.

Maui Prep Department of Performing Arts invites the community to enter a “world of pure imagination” when it presents “Willy Wonka Jr” on April 8, 9, and 10, 2022 at the campus’ Bozich Center for Athletics and Performing Arts.

The event will be held on Saturday at the Lahaina Jodo Mission.

Maui Preparatory Academy is positioning itself as a training academy for athletes who want to push themselves and sharpen their life skills in the classroom.

Students found that 60% of the plastic garbage generated by students was plastic flatware, wrappers and bags. As a result of switching to reusable items, the school would eliminate 460 pounds of plastic trash every year.

The program expansion is made possible through MEDB and Toshiba America Foundation grants, and will be used to serve 40+ students in grades 3-5.

Maui Preparatory Academy announced the receipt of a $5,000 grant from the Fred Baldwin Memorial Foundation for a program focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.

The victory was twice as nice for seniors Sarah Colbaugh, Molie Glass, and team captain Gina Marzo who celebrated their last home game and senior day with lei and balloons.
