The 2015 Kāʻanapali Classic Collegiate Invitational returns to the Kāʻanapali Golf Courses in West Maui, November 5 to 8, after an inaugural event last year.

Today is the nomination deadline for the Enterprise Rent-A-Car/Honolulu Star-Advertiser Hawaiʻi High School Hall of Honor, which was established in 1982 to recognize outstanding athletic achievement of high school seniors in Hawaiʻi.

Maui’s Connor Baxter and Andrea Moller retained Stand Up Paddle titles in the 7th annual OluKai held over the weekend along Maui’s North Shore. More than 350 paddlers representing 12 countries registered for the elite stand up paddle competition with Baxter and Moller taking home the gender equal prize purse of $15,000 in the Maliko Downwind Run.

The Seabury Hall girls track team, a dozen strong, continued its epic climb over and above the rest of the Maui Interscholastic League.

Some of the pieces were missing, some are broken, but few noticed the difference in Saturday’s version of the Baldwin High School boys track team.

The conditions are tipped to be near perfect for the eight-mile Stand Up Paddle (SUP) race on Saturday, May 1, at noon, with 12 to 18 knot winds and open water swells rolling down the coast during this second day of the 7th annual three-day OluKai Hoʻolauleʻa.

Baldwin High School’s Kaitlin Smith and La’akea Kahoohanohano-Davis were the top qualifiers at Friday’s Maui Interscholastic League Track and Field Championship trials.

The seventh annual OluKai Ho‘olaule‘a will be held this weekend, May 1 to 3, 2015, bringing together the world’s elite stand up paddle (SUP), OC1 and OC2 athletes to race the legendary eight-mile Maliko Downwind Run on the North Shore of Maui.

Despite an onslaught of distractions, the Maui Interscholastic League’s top track and field teams leaned on their top performers Saturday at the finals of the Victorino Ohana Invitational.

The “Maliko Downwind Run, a celebration of the ocean the cultures that surround it,” will take place Friday through Sunday, May 1 to 3, at Kanaha Beach Park.

The Baldwin High School boys and Seabury Hall girls did what they do best on Friday — win Maui Interscholastic League track and field championships.

Ten student athletes at the Kamehameha Schools Maui campus signed national letters of intent on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, bringing to 14 the total number of athletes from the school that signed letters this year. The group on Wednesday included five football players, two swimmers, two soccer players and a softball player.

The six primary beneficiaries of the 2015 event include: the Boy Scouts of America – Maui County Council; the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center; Hale Makua Health Services; the J. Walter Cameron Center; Ka Lima O Maui; and the Lahainaluna High School Foundation.

Maui Now has learned that the Seattle Seahawks are on island, apparently as part of a players camp before the official off-season program begins.

Ian Walsh’s Menehune Mayhem celebrated its 12th Anniversary on Saturday, April 4, in 3- to 6-foot surf at the Pavilions at Hookipa Beach Park.

Bigger, better, stronger. The Maui Big Boyz Football League is all of the above, and currently in midseason of its fifth year.
