Tokuda enters names of Maui wildfire victims into the Congressional Record

US Rep. Jill Tokuda honored the memory of the Maui fire victims upon her return to Congress on Tuesday morning. While on the House Floor, she read the names of the victims and those still missing (while displaying their photos), entering them into the Congressional Record. 

Maui police confirm another fatality from Lahaina wildfire, bringing total to 102

The Maui Police Department today confirmed the identity of another victim involved in the West Maui Wildfire incident of August 2023, bringing the total confirmed dead to 102. On Monday, June 24, 2024, the Honolulu medical examiner’s office confirmed Claudette Heermance, 68, of Lahaina succumbed to injuries sustained on Aug. 8, 2023, according to Maui police.

Scholarships awarded in honor of Lahaina fire victim, Clyde Wakida

The Clyde Wakida Scholarship Fund was established through donations from friends and family after the August fire.  This year the Fund awarded five recipients, each receiving $2,000. Recipients were: Carla Mae Agrade, Judy Dela Cruz, Blessy Calapit, Cecelia Steiner and John Tumpap.

Memorial consultant to speak at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset, April 2

Memorial consultant, Greg Miller will be the speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meeting on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Miller will share the overview of the process and steps involved in the San Diego Surfer’s Memorial.  He currently serves as the advisor of the Lahaina Town Fire Memorial.

Maui police identify 101st Maui wildfire fatality, Paul Kasprzycki, 76

Paul Kasprzycki, an artist, craftsman and woodcarver credited with creating the welcome to Lahaina signs, was positively identified publicly Tuesday as the 101st fatality of the Aug. 8 Lahaina wildfire.

Maui police identify 100th wildfire disaster victim

Maui police today confirmed the identity of Lydia Coloma, 70, of Lahaina as a victim of the Aug. 8, 2023 wildfire in West Maui. Coloma was previously on a list of unaccounted for individuals, which has now dropped to three people. The latest confirmation completes the public identification process for the 100 known fatalities from the Lahaina fire.
