EV Charging Stations in Wailuku, Lahaina and Haʻikū Reach End of Life, Upgrades Underway

The EVOhana charging stations located at the Kalana O Maui (County) Building in Wailuku, the Lahaina Aquatic Center and the Haʻikū Community Center were temporarily shutdown, starting yesterday, July 31, 2020.

Maui Summer Youth Program Extended to Aug. 14; Still Only $10 Per Week for Families

Mayor Michael Victorino announced that the County of Maui’s summer youth program has been extended another two weeks until Aug. 14 to assist families impacted by the delay of school openings.

Ho‘olehua Brush Fire on Moloka‘i Burns 20 Acres, 100% Contained

The fire was first reported at 2:56 p.m. in the area of Puʻu Kapele Avenue.  Fire crews gained 100% containment at 5 p.m. and mop-up operations continued into the evening.

Maui fire crews are battling a brush fire in gulch below Hāliʻimaile Road on Maui.   At around 5 p.m. precautionary evacuations were being conducted for homes along Aoiki Street and the makai side of Leie Street.  

BREAKING: Federal Agent Dies at Kīhei Police Station on Maui, Incident Ruled Accidental Line of Duty Death

Officials have ruled the death of a federal law enforcement agent on Maui as an accidental line of duty death.  Special Agent John Bost III died July 28 at the Kīhei Police station, where he was employed with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

BREAKING: Third Consecutive Day of Triple-Digit Increases in Hawai‘i: 123 New COVID-19 Cases

For the third consecutive day, Hawaiʻi recorded another triple-digit single-day total for new COVID-19 infections with a total of 123 new cases in the state on Friday.  Today’s cases include: 119 new cases on Oʻahu and four new cases in Maui County.

FBI Investigation Results in Charges Against Hawai‘i Man for Threatening Emails

An Oʻahu man was charged in federal court with sending threatening interstate communications.  Sean Michael Fujiwara, 43, of Kailua, Hawaiʻi is accused of sending at least 21 emails that were threatening in nature or contained references to foreign terrorist organizations, or both.

How to Report Violations of Hawai‘i’s 14-Day Quarantine

1,929 Arrivals to Maui in June, Down From Last Year’s 297,449 Visitors

BREAKING: Another Triple-Digit Record for Hawai‘i: 124 New COVID-19 Cases

Hawaiʻi recorded another triple-digit record breaking day for new COVID-19 infections with a total of 124 new cases in the state on Thursday.  Today’s cases include: 121 new cases on Oʻahu and four new cases in Maui County. This marks the second consecutive day that new cases have risen into the triple-digits.  It’s also the state’s highest case count for a single-day since the pandemic began.
