Nov. 9, 2020 COVID-19 Update: 64 New Cases (53 O‘ahu, 4 Hawai‘i Island, 2 Kaua‘i, 5 Out of State)

DOH recorded 64 additional cases of COVID-19 in the reporting period that ended at noon today. The majority are on O‘ahu with 53 new cases. No additional deaths were reported today.

There were 204,685 trans-Pacific and international travelers that arrived in Hawai‘I between Oct. 15 and yesterday, Nov. 8, 2020.  

Maui County Solid Waste Services Schedule Announced for Veterans Day

These funds will help support rental assistance programs for current voucher holders who lost their job or saw a significant reduction in income due to the pandemic.

There were 128 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today, including 106 on O‘ahu, 19 on Hawai‘i Island, two on Maui, and one in a Hawai‘i resident diagnosed outside of the state. Kaua‘i, Lānaʻi and Moloka‘i had no new cases today.

Hawaiʻi’s Safe Travel Program is Luring Tourists Back, But Very Slowly

As state officials expected, the launch of Hawaiʻi’s Safe Travel Program on Oct. 15 has led to only a modest increase in tourism in the early stages. An average of 6,300 trans-Pacific travelers have come to Hawaiʻi per day — up from about 1,900 per day before the program started, but way down from the 25,000 per day average in October 2019.

Nov. 7, 2020 COVID-19 Update: 128 New Cases (108 O‘ahu, 11 Hawai‘i Island, 2 Maui, 2 Kaua‘i, 5 Out of State)

There were 128 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today, including 108 on O‘ahu, 11 on Hawai‘i Island, two on Maui, two on Kauaʻi and five in Hawai‘i residents diagnosed outside of the state. The new Maui cases included one each in Kahului and Haʻikū, according to map changes documented by the State Department of Health. Hawai‘i’s COVID-19 death toll increased to at 220 with one additional death reported today on the island of O‘ahu. Details are pending release.

Joe Biden has secured the presidency becoming the 46th US President, the Associated Press and NBC News are reporting. The reports are the first for major news organizations after four days of vote counts in a historically tight race.

Hawai‘i Welcomes First International Flight From Japan Under Safe Travels Program

International travel to Hawai‘i resumed on Friday with the arrival of 64 travelers from Japan on an All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight from Haneda Airport in Tokyo. The visitors are the first to take part in the state’s pre-travel testing program that now includes both domestic trans-Pacific travelers and those from Japan.
